Make your plans now to make St. Charles your Memorial Day weekend destination. Begin your weekend with a stroll through the annual fine arts festival, held in the beautiful downtown area amongst shops and restaurants. The festival begins on Friday and ends Sunday afternoon and will showcase some of the finest artists in the state. Swing by the oldest running store in Illinois, Dick Ponds, and pick up your packet for the Monday morning race...the Foot Mechanics Memorial Day Main Street Mile. Come to vie for the bounty awarded to the fastest male breaking the 3:53:70 course record and the fastest sub 4:30 female The race will be run entirely on main street St. Charles, beginning on 14th St. and ending in the heart of downtown by the historic Arcada Theatre. The course is certain to produce your fastest mile, as you run at an even grade past local businesses and residential neighborhoods to the highest point in the city at 6th St., with a breathtaking view of historical storefronts and the sparkling Fox River as you descend quickly to the finish line! The race will be filled with excitement as young and old achieve their personal best race in this event. Stay to watch the elite and talented runners who have come to vie for the 5000.00 bounty awarded to the fastest sub 4 minute mile male and fastest sub 4:30 minute mile female. Bring your entire family or group of friends and participate as a team for this event. Team awards as well as age group awards will be given after the race for top finishers. All registrants may choose between arm warmers or cotton t-shirt and finishers will receive a dog tag medal. Goody bags will also contain valuable sponsor coupons and product.. After your finish, stake your claim to a prime spot along the course for watching the St. Charles memorial day parade at 10 am, directly after the race.
